The ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Major was to be held in North America. However, due to the complications caused by the global covid lockdowns that were imposed throughout the year, the tournament had to be postponed and was eventually held online instead.

  The Grand Finals will take place on August 14, 2022, following the start of the Major on August 4, 2022.

PGL Arlington Major qualifying

The qualification of teams for the PGL Arlington Major is segmented to regions across the globe, with some regions having an allotment for more slots than others.

The qualifying teams will be attained from six (6) regions, namely; North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and China.

Western Europe and China both have four (4) slots each, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia were allotted three (3) slots each, while North & South America both have two (2) slots each.

PGL Arlington Major tournament structure

The PGL Arlington Major tournament will be held in two phases; the group stage and the playoffs stage. The tournament will feature a total of 18 teams competing for the championship title. The structure to be applied in both stages of the tournament is explained below.

• PGL Arlington Group Stage

  At the Dota 2 PGL Arlington Major, the total of 18 teams competing will be split into two groups of nine. The matches for the Group Stage will be organized in a single round-robin, and each game will be played as a best-of-two series.

  The top four teams in each PGL Arlington group will move on to compete in the next round of the playoffs in the upper bracket. Teams who finish fifth and sixth in their respective groups will move on to compete in the Lower Bracket. The remaining teams that fail to attain the top six spots in each group are eliminated from the tournament.

• PGL Arlington Playoffs Stage

  The PGL Arlington Major playoffs will follow the same format as other Dota 2 esports competitions, which is a bracket with two rounds of elimination.
