The League of Legends World Championship 2024 Round 4 draw took place following the two elimination matches on Monday, October 7, revealing the next six fixtures, set to take place from Thursday to Saturday.

The LoL Worlds Swiss Stage is slowly drawing to an end as only 12 teams remain in the race for a spot in the playoffs.

By the end of this week, three more squads will join MAD Lions KOI and paiN Gaming on their flight back home.

Tough draw for western teams in 2-1 bracket

The LoL Worlds 2024 draw gave us six exciting fixtures to look forward to; however, the Western fans could have hoped for an easier draw.

In the 2-1 bracket, we will see Dplus KIA clash with Top Esports in what promises to be an explosive series featuring two teams who have averaged 32.5 and 27.6 combined kills and deaths per game so far.

And while both sides can be happy with the opponent they got paired with, the same cannot be said for G2 Esports and FlyQuest.

Europe’s top seed will face off against an old foe in T1, while FlyQuest were handed the tough task of having to overcome LoL Champions Korea (LCK) 2024 Summer champions, Hanwha Life Esports.

G2 Esports last met with T1 during the Mid-Season Invitational 2024, losing both series 2-3 and 0-3.

Yet despite T1’s struggles in the latter months of the season, top LoL betting sites seem to have put more weight on the head-to-head record, pricing the Korean powerhouse as -294.12 favourites.

Meanwhile, League Championship Series (LCS) top seed FlyQuest are priced as the biggest outsiders of LoL Worlds 2024 Round 4 at +1007, giving them a mere 9% implied probability of beating Hanwha Life Esports and securing a ticket for the playoffs.

The last chance bracket

The 1-2 pool draw has ended well for the two Western teams.

Team Liquid and Fnatic avoided China’s Bilibili Gaming, who got paired with PSG Talon. However, that does not make the road to the final round any easier for either the LCS or LoL EMEA Championship (LEC) squads.

Team Liquid have found themselves in a better spot, as they will play GAM Esports, who pulled off an upset on Monday and eliminated MAD Lions KOI from the tournament.

As -312.5 favourites, Team Liquid are expected to make it through the fourth round. The same can not be said for Fnatic.

Europe’s second seed will meet with Weibo Gaming in what is expected to be a very one-sided game.

After struggling against Dplus KIA and Top Esports, Fnatic’s chances of reaching their first LoL Worlds playoffs since 2020 seem slim. Yet Weibo Gaming haven’t had the best run in Germany either, which inspires some hope for the underdogs.

MAD Lions KOI & paiN Gaming sent packing

Before the round four draw, the first two LoL Worlds 2024 elimination fixtures took place, yet none played out as expected.

The day started with a shock loss of LEC’s third seed, MAD Lions, who slipped against GAM Esports in a three-map thriller.

While MAD Lions have been struggling to perform on the big stage, by losing to GAM Esports, they suffered yet another early elimination from LoL Worlds after placing 17th-18th in 2022 and 12th-14th in 2023.

The second elimination match saw the betting favourites, Team Liquid, take care of business against their southern neighbours, paiN Gamiing, in one of the closest series of the tournament.

It marked another early LoL Worlds exit of a Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends (CBLOL) representatives and the last time we will see a team carrying a CBLOL flag, as CBLOL, Liga Latinoamérica (LLA) and LCS merge into a new League of the Americas league in 2025.

LoL World Championship 2024 continues on Thursday, October 10, with the first series of the fourth round.
