JD Gaming stopped LNG Esports’ train on Tuesday when they knocked Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang and his crew into the lower bracket, securing themselves an upper bracket final bout with Top Esports. JDG’s victory on the day wasn’t as surprising, mainly because LNG Esports have overperformed a bit to make it this far. Still, JD Gaming played well and deserve some recognition for it.
We also didn’t see anything new from JD Gaming in their clash with LNG Esports. They’re still a very bloody team, with somewhat shaky Baron and Herald control but strong players across all positions.
Top Esports are similar, as they also struggled with Herald control this season, but they ended the regular season with the second-best Baron control (64%). Besides those performance figures, TES also field very talented players, but not enough quality for us to pick a side purely based on talent.
Quantitatively, there isn’t much to separate Top Esports and JD Gaming, especially since their stats from the regular season won’t necessarily translate into the new patch. Even performance-wise, you can’t say one team has shown more than the other mainly because TES probably shouldn’t have won against EDward Gaming.
This affair has no clear favourite, and barring any surprises, we should be in for a very close match. JD Gaming to win at even money or better isn’t a bad choice, but we like over 4.5 maps at $2.62.
