Although Cloud9 lost to Team Spirit in their opening match of the elimination stage, it was their only defeat since the start of PGL Major Copenhagen.
C9 were dominant in the opening stage and qualified for the main event with a 3-0 record before advancing to the playoff stage with a 3-1 record late last week. With the likes of Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov, Abay “HObbit” Khassenov, and Denis “electroNic” Sharipov hitting their straps at the pointy end of the Major, Cloud9 comes into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the tournament.
Team Vitality have been performing at a level well below expectations and were somewhat lucky to qualify for the playoff stage, as they played lower-ranked teams such as TheMongolz, Imperial and Complexity. Having a few days off between stages will do Vitality a world of good, but if Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut and Lotan “Spinx” Giladi can’t get going and improve dramatically in this series, they could be beaten comprehensively by a well-oiled Cloud9 roster.
Esports betting sites have Vitality marked as favourites, but it is impossible to tip them with any confidence, so betting on the total maps is the play.

Team Spirit came into the Major as title favourites, and they have been nothing short of superb. They were led to a 3-0 record by rising star Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and AWPer Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov. With donk (3rd) and sh1ro (4th) being rated in the top five players at the Major, Spirit must be seen as clear favourites to claim the PGL Major Copenhagen title.
Going into this series against FaZe Clan, Spirit will have a lot of confidence after defeating them 3-0 in the final of IEM Katowice 2024 earlier this year.
On the other hand, FaZe may have finally found top form in their final elimination stage series when they dominated Complexity 2-0 to qualify for the playoff stage. However, much like Team Vitality, FaZe haven’t faced another team ranked inside the top 10 in the world and they have still struggled.
It is well known in the Counter-Strike world that FaZe are a different team when it comes to the playoffs, but to win this series they will have to find a way to become the dominant FaZe of old. They will have learned a lot from their recent defeats against Spirit, so expect this series to go to three maps.
