]]>The most recent addition to the organizations ownership sheet was revealed during a “Ghost Hunt” stream. The stream was hosted on July 21 by several OTK members, including founding co-owners, Rich Campbell, Mizkif, and Tim Esfand. Also on the stream were Nmplol, Cyr, and Emiru, amongst others.
The streamers went on a “Ghost Hunt” in an abandoned warehouse before things went downhill quickly. A mysterious stranger who was dressed as Ghostface appeared to kill most of OTK’s creators in the announcement. The announcement was streamed live on Twitch before it was later uploaded to YouTube.
The announcement was such that OTK’s newest co-owner was the “murderer” who had been on a killing spree. Soda was found wearing the mask when Cyr discovered the Ghostface killer’s lair. “Introducing OTK Sodapoppin,” was the ending text to the nine-minute long video.
OTK’s ownership members now include Asmongold, Mizkif, Esfand, Rich Campbell, Nick Nmpol Polomc, Tips Out, Johnathan Jschlatt Schlatt, and Sodapoppin. From October 2021 through to March 2022, the organization has seen the addition of creators such as Vincent Cyr Cyr, Emily Emiru Schunk, Bruce Ray BruceDropEmOff Condones, and Tectone.
Soon after, the organization confirmed the news via its official Twitter page. As of the time of this post, Sodapoppin has yet to respond to the news of his new role as a co-owner of One True King, but he has, however, retweeted the official post made by the announcement video.
The American streamer’s career extends beyond Twitch as the player began his career on Xfire before making the switch to the Amazon-acquired streaming platform in 2012. He joined Twitch at the time it was known as Justin.tv. He has since then risen to Twitchs top 10 most followed streamers of all-time, since it received a name change.
The Canadian star used to rely heavily on World of Warcraft for his broadcasts, locking horns with other MMO legends like his new OTK partner, Asmongold. Soda began experimenting with different streams in the mid-2010s. He has maintained a 15,000-viewer average since making the switch. He was nominated for a Legacy award at The Streamer Awards earlier this year.
One True King was first established in October 2020. Asmongold stated at the time that the organizations goals were to “build an org around friends [and] build an org around friendship in general.”
In March, One True King was awarded the year’s Best Content Organization at The Streamer Awards. The organizations streaming team also runs a WoW esports team. In line with the Ukraine relief efforts, OTK raised more than $500,000 for the cause in March.
The organization has a major partnership with Mountain Dews Game Fuel, a beverage drink specifically designed for gamers. It also has partnerships with hardware company Razer, WePlay Esports and Gatorade.
Sodapoppin’s first foray into organization ownership did not start with OTK. The major stake in Northern Gaming was owned by the Canadian until it was purchased by NRG Esports in August 2017.
