]]>The new Copenhagen Wolves Counter-Strike division has slowly come together over the last week. But it wasn’t until Tuesday, January 2, that it got finalised with the signing of trace as a new head coach.
As one of the more experienced CS coaches, trace will be in charge of leading a lineup headlined by Hubert “szejn” ?wiat?y, and work closely with Copenhagen Wolves’ in-game leader Victor “vigg0” Bisgaard, whom trace will reunite with from his time at Astralis Talent.

Trace is a retired Counter-Strike player who started his esports career in 2007. Over the next 14 years, the Dane has played for several high-profile Counter-Strike squads, including SK Gaming and Fnatic, before transitioning to coaching with Team Singularity in 2021.
Following a short stint with Singularity, trace joined Lyngby Vikings and spent the last month of 2021 as a head coach of ECSTATIC before joining Astralis’ academy division. In March 2022, trace got promoted to the main lineup as a replacement for Alexander “ave” Holdt and, after a rough start, found some success at the top level.
With Astralis, trace claimed silver medals from BLAST Premier: Spring European Showdown 2022 and Pinnacle Cup Championship and made the semifinals of Roobet Cup 2022 and Intel Extreme Masters XVII �C Cologne. Unfortunately, internal turmoil and disappointing results in the second half of 2022 led to trace’s departure from Astralis.
The Danish coach found a new home with Into the Breach in August 2023 but left two months later by mutual agreement.
Trace joins the iconic Danish esports brand, which was revived by Jared “Outback” Habib in late December. While the team doesn’t have an official match on their schedule yet, the Copenhagen Wolves are expected to debut in the upcoming European Open Qualifiers for the Copenhagen Regional Major Rankings tournament, set to kick off on January 8.

]]>Featuring Hubert “szejn” ?wiat?y, Leo “Svedjehed” Svedjehed, Sebastian “Basso” Aagaard, Nicolaj “mupzG” Djurhus, and in-game leader Victor “vigg0” Bisgaard, the Copenhagen Wolves formed a new English-speaking roster that will fight under one of the most recognisable names from the earlier days of Counter-Strike.
Szejn is the most notable name on the new roster, having made a name for himself by winning four WePlay Academy League titles with MOUZ NXT in 2021�C22. Since then, the 21-year-old has served as a stand-in at Illuminar and was most recently seen competing with Project G.
He is surrounded by players from various backgrounds, including a Danish trio of mupzG, vigg0, basso, and ex-AGO and EYEBALLERS rifler Svedjehed.
Copenhagen’s revival started on December 20, when 23-year-old American entrepreneur Jared “Outback” Habib acquired the organisation. Along with a new owner came a different direction for assembling the roster, turning away from the Danish heritage.
Since Copenhagen Wolves’ inception in 2009, the team has fielded only Danish players. Some of the most notable ex-members include Counter-Strike superstars Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Casped “cadiaN” M?ller, Finn “karrigan” Andersen, and Nicolai “device” Reedtz.
While the new signings don’t carry as much prestige as the Copenhagen Wolves’ former members, the new international lineup holds some potential.
Vigg0 joins the Copenhagen Wolves after successful stints with Astralis Talent and Sashi Esports, while Basso made a name for himself during his stay at the Copenhagen Flames in 2019 and 2020. They will link up with MupzG, who found himself under the spotlight in September 2023 when he helped Victory Zigzag win Pelaajat.com Nordic Masters Fall 2023 and qualify for BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023.
Unfortunately, the team never made it to the $67,000 tournament after Victory Zigzag got disqualified for their members being banned. Despite never winning a big event, MupzG is a highly experienced player, having been involved in the Counter-Strike scene since 2014.
The Copenhagen Flames have no official games on the schedule and have yet to announce a head coach.

This victory was especially significant as Complexity had previously lost their last five matches against Liquid.
Jonathan “?EliGE?” Jablonowski, reflecting on the win, pointed out that confidence was the key factor that had been holding Complexity back in their previous encounters.
This resounding victory helped boost their morale and solidify their winning mindset.
Liquid, on the other hand, had to fight tooth and nail to reach this stage, requiring three maps to overcome Forsaken and Party Astronauts.
In the final against Complexity, Liquid’s “experimental” roster, featuring Damian “?daps?” Steele as a secondary caller, struggled.
Daps, who was transitioning to the role of the team’s in-game leader, had a challenging return to official matches, ending the event with a 0.81 rating in his first competitive appearance since April 2022.
Even though Mareks “YEKINDAR” Ga?inskis was heavily involved in Liquid’s opening duels on map one, he struggled, succeeding in only 45% of them, leading to Liquid’s 16-4 loss on Anubis.
Complexity’s tactical prowess continued on Inferno, where they outsmarted Liquid, who had to rely on individual performances for round wins.
Liquid managed only two rounds on their T side, trailing 13-2 at halftime.
Complexity’s Johnny “?JT?” Theodosiou played a crucial role in shutting down YEKINDAR, neutralizing Liquid’s primary threat.
In the end, Complexity convincingly closed out Inferno with a 16-2 score.
This win marked a morale-boosting comeback for Complexity, as they had previously recovered from a 12-6 deficit against FURIA in the semi-finals.
With their spot secured in the Fall Final and a reputation as the best team in the Americas, Complexity heads into CS2 with renewed confidence.

In the European Fall Showdown final, Cloud9 secured their place at the Fall Final with a 2-0 victory over BIG, recording wins on both Ancient (16-13) and Anubis (16-12).
Cloud9 had been struggling to find success in recent tournaments, prompting a change in leadership with Abay “HObbit” Khassenov taking on the role of in-game leader.
This adjustment seemed to be paying off as they overcame BIG, who had been on an upward trajectory with wins against strong opponents.
On the first map, BIG started strongly on the T side, but Cloud9 made a comeback from 3-7 down and clinched the map 16-13.
On Cloud9’s pick, Anubis, they managed to secure a narrow 8-7 win despite initially struggling to hold the A bomb site.
BIG had a strong start on the CT side, but Cloud9’s aggressive approach and impressive individual performances allowed them to secure a 16-12 victory and close out the series.
Both Complexity and Cloud9 will take their place in the Fall Final in Copenhagen, with the US$425,000 event kicking off on November 22.

cadiaN expressed a desire for changes in the roster to boost competitiveness, but the organization had a different approach.
The decision was characterized as a mutual one, with cadiaN acknowledging that they couldn’t find a middle ground to align their visions.
cadiaN remains ambitious and determined to continue his Counter-Strike career.
He believes he can contribute positively to other teams and is open to adapting his roles, potentially separating AWPing and in-game leading for the right fit.
The departure of cadiaN raises questions about Heroic’s future, as they lose not only a key player but also a leader, experienced player, and mentor to younger teammates.
The move comes during a period referred to as “CS2”, signifying changes and adjustments in the CS:GO professional scene.
As for cadiaN, his next destination in the CS:GO world remains uncertain, but he is focused on finding a team with which he can win and continue his successful career.

Movistar Riders struggled to hold their ground, lasting less than ten rounds on Overpass before succumbing to ENCE’s dominance.
Despite some close and chaotic situations early in the match, Riders failed to capitalize on them, allowing ENCE to cruise to victory.
ENCE displayed their superiority with a convincing 16-2 win.
The momentum carried into the Anubis map, where SunPayus continued to shine by quickly securing rounds for his team.

The root of the problem appears to be server capacity, with CS2 grappling to accommodate the surging player base on its opening day.
Valve is well aware of these server issues and is actively working on a solution, which includes the addition of more servers in regions facing the most challenges.
The game’s developers are also urging the community for patience during this time.
On its opening day, CS2 managed to surpass an impressive 1.4 million concurrent players, coming within 400,000 of its peak five months ago, according to SteamDB.
If the servers are already overcrowded, the situation may worsen over time.
Since its full release, CS2 players have reported increasingly lengthy queue times, some even enduring hours of waiting without a game starting.
These concerns prompted Valve to expand server capacity in various regions.
However, server issues are not the only concern troubling the community.
Fans have expressed worries about the lack of content, particularly the absence of features that were present in CS:GO.
Elements like Danger Zone, achievements, Wingman mode, and workshop maps have yet to be added alongside the Source 2 update, leading many players to request more from Valve.

This issue plagued CS:GO for a significant portion of its existence, and players had hoped that CS2’s new VAC-live system from Valve would address the cheating problem.
