In separate Twitter posts, the esports organization revealed that both players would not continue with them into the next CoD season. OpTic Texas bid the players farewell and thanked them for their contributions and impact on the team.

In response, Huke wrote, “As always, thank you for the support and allowing me to live the dream. Not an end, just a beginning.”

Ghosty also tweeted, “This rookie season was an insane opportunity, and I couldn’t have been more blessed to have been a part of the GreenWall. It truly was an honor to represent OpTic on the biggest stage.”

The duo were instrumental to OpTic Texas’ significant improvement after a poor start to the season. The only players on their active roster include Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro and Brandon “Dashy” Otell.

Huke joined OpTic Texas earlier this year, shortly after currently retired CoD star Seth “Scump” Abner announced his intention to leave the competitive scene. The decision to sign Huke also came after OpTic failed to advance past the CoD League Stage One Major Group Stage in December.

The player previously played with Dallas Empire, helping the team win the 2020 CoD League Championship. Huke was eventually transferred to the Los Angeles Thieves in May 2021 before joining OpTic Texas in January 2023 ahead of the CDL Major 2 Qualifiers.

Ghosty joined Huke on OpTic Texas a few weeks later after Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal was taken off the bench. With him on the lineup, OpTic Texas was propelled to a grand final appearance in the CDL Major 3.

While they eventually lost to Toronto Ultra, the team continued in dominant fashion and did not lose another online match for the rest of the season. OpTic Texas reached a 5-0 record in both the Major 4 and Major 5 Qualifiers and secured another runner-up finish in the Major 4.

The team’s top 12 finish in Major 5 and 5th/6th placing in the CDL playoffs likely led to OpTic Texas’ decision to restructure their roster.

OpTic Texas might already have their sights set on a few players to replace Ghosty and Huke. According to a report earlier this month, the team were considering Los Angeles Thieves Zack “Drazah” Jordan and Dylan “Envoy” Hannon, as well as Amer “Pred” Zulbeari from Seattle Surge.

The CDL 2024 rostermania officially kicked off on June 25, allowing teams to extend or terminate contracts with their players. The current CDL contracts are expected to expire on July 2, and free agents are prohibited from officially starting negotiations with esports organizations until July 3.

Minnesota Rokkr previously announced that they would not retain any of their team members, while Boston Breach have opted not to resign Joseph “Owakening” Conley, Reece “Vivid” Drost, and Dylan “Nero” Koch.

Los Angeles Guerrillas also parted ways with Adam “Assault” Garcia, Joseph “JoeDeceives” Romero, and Kaden “Exceed” Stockdale.

CoD fans can expect even more roster shifts after player contracts expire and unrestricted free agents are allowed to sign with new teams next month.

Huke, who started his professional career right away in 2015, has represented some of the best North American Call of Duty teams. These teams include FaZe Clan, Team Envy, Splyce, Dallas Empire, Los Angeles Thieves and most recently, the Los Angeles Guerrillas.

The multi-national player, who also holds Dutch and Saudi Arabian citizenship, has displayed his prowess in both the domestic and international COD scene.

He graced the Call of Duty World League Championship in 2018 while representing Team Envy. Huke and Team Envy were able to garner a resounding fifth-sixth place finish. Sadly, in the following year, they could only come as far as finishing in 9th-10th place at the 2019 CWL Pro League.

Moving on to his next team, the Dallas Empire, which he joined in October 2019, he made performed better, which can be attributed to an increased work ethic.

At the 2020 Call of Duty League Week 2 in London, Dallas Empire came in second. A more progressive result was achieved at subsequent events, as the team painstakingly garnered back-to-back first places in Week 4 of the same event in Los Angeles, Week 6 in Chicago, and Week 12 in London and ended up being the champions of the 2020 Modern Warfare season.

Huke will be starting off his new adventure in OpTic Gaming by reuniting with two of his former teammates from Dallas Empire, Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro and Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal.

OpTic Texas had a saddening run last season despite being recognized as one of the most top teams in the region. One of these poor performances was the team��s inability to pass the group stage of the Call of Duty League Stage One Major. Their poor performances led to the ejection of their longtime player Brandon “Dashy” Otell and Canadian player iLLeY from the team on August 17 of last year. However, the team made a U-turn on this decision and added them back to the roster.

The formidable OpTic Texas roster now consists of Huke, Dashy, iLLeY, 21-year-old American Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro, Seth “Scump” Abner and their head coach Raymond “Rambo” Lussier, who also serves as the esports outfit��s general manager.

The team is scheduled to face the Boston Breach in their Stage Two major qualifiers on Jan. 15, giving them just one week to prepare.

This is the first official roster change for the Call of Duty team. The North American outfit also revealed that Huke��s exit was based on a mutual agreement. Hence, the player ended things with the team on a good note, and they wish him well in his future endeavors.

While the Los Angeles Guerrillas took out their time to acknowledge Huke��s impact on the team and revealed to the public that they had a good run with him, Huke took to his Twitter page to notify the general public that he is now an official free agent looking for a reputable Call of Duty team to take a chance with him.

“Free Agent for the rest of the season. Game ready,” he tweeted.

Huke is a 23-year-old who has had the opportunity to represent some of the best Call of Duty teams in the region. In 2015, he launched his career with FaZe Clan, and after spending a very short time with the team, he got signed by Team Envy in 2017. Subsequently, the American player has represented other teams like Splyce, Dallas Empire, and Los Angeles Thieves. And with his run with team Los Angeles Guerrillas, Huke and his other teammates garnered a first-place finish at the Call of Duty League 2022: Stage 2 Major, earning themselves $200,000 in prize money.

Huke is also a national of the United States of America, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia, which makes it easy for him to blend in with new teammates owing to his multiracial identity. At the time of this writing, no reports have been made concerning the new team Huke will be joining. It is unknown what step the player will be taking next.

Last year, the North American team already had their fair share of a disappointing start to the 2023 Call of Duty season, ultimately resulting in a 9th�C12th-place finish at Major 1 in Raleigh, North Carolina. This loss has hit the team really hard, as in August the team made a huge investment by signing Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson to their team.

In the group stage of the Major, the Los Angeles Guerillas academy roster was eliminated along with the main roster, which has led the team to embark on a roster overhaul leading to the promotion of three academy players to the main roster. These players are Adam “Assault” Garcia, Kaden “Exceed” Stockdale, and Joe “JoeDeceives.”

Other than Arcitys, it is speculated that the remaining players of the main roster are Kris “Spart” Cervantez and Travis “Neptune” McCloud, who will either part ways with the team like Huke or be moved to the academy roster, which is not a move that often happens.
