The match between T1 and KT Rolster was for the most part one-sided in favor of the heavily favored T1. The initial game was, however, an anomaly with KT unexpectedly decimating Faker and the lads in under 26 minutes to claim victory with Kim “Aiming” Ha-ram clinching the MVP award of the map.

However, T1 quickly regain their footing and overpowered KT Rolster in the second and third maps with Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok named as the MVPs of the respective maps. The last two maps of the series ended with Faker posting a 13/2/12 KDA as T1 recorded their second win of the 2023 LCK Spring Split having swept Gen.G in their first outing, solidifying their place at the top of the standings.

Faker’s performance against KT Rolster and his new milestone serves as a reminder of his incredible talent and his impact on the competitive scene. Their was a lot of conjecture around the Korean superstar’s status over the off-season, after his contract expired in late November and teams started to circle around him.

There was speculation that Faker was considering offers from a number of LoL Championship Series (LCS) teams, including FlyQuest and Team Liquid, with Liquid making an official offer to the T1 legend.

Team Liquid had recently signed Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan as their new head coach for the LCS 2023 season, and the organisation believed that MaRin’s arrival could be useful in convincing Faker to make the move to North America.

Faker and MaRin were teammates on T1’s 2015 LoL World Championship-winning team, and Liquid were hoping they could re-unite the pair for the upcoming LCS season.

There are reports suggesting that Faker was given shares in T1 and if he did leave for the LCS, he would have to sell those shares, similarly to what we saw with TSM and Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg.

With Faker committing to T1 for three years, it now means that all five of the players from their Worlds 2022 roster will return for the 2023 season.

T1 can now put all of the contract talk behind them and focus on winning their seventh LCK Spring title in the new year.

T1 triumphs over Gen.G, giving them their first loss

In a best-of-three display, T1 defeats Gen.G after seeing its winning streak ended by Freecs at the end of June. The win was another first for the 26-year old and his team as they gave Gen.G its first loss of the summer split.

Prior to their outing against T1, Gen.G had won all six games played against KT Rolster, Hanwha Life Esports, Damwon, Brion Blade, NS Redforce, and Freecs. The win added an extra twist to the LCK standings, leaving both teams tied at the top spot with a 6-1 record.

Despite T1 having the advantage over Gen.G in all head-to-head matches engaged in this year. Gen.G was the favorite to win with a $1.72 moneyline odds against T1’s $2.00 with the top esport betting sites, owing to their winning streak.

Gen.G got the better of T1 in the first map with 9 kills, and 4 Dragons recovered as opposed to T1’s 3 kills. Gen.G also collected about 12,000 gold more than T1. The second map took a different turn as T1 forced the third map by securing the win with 13 kills against Gen.G��s 8 kills.

T1 closed out the game in the third map, giving Gen.G a dose of their own medicine. Having handed Gen.G its first defeat in the tournament, T1’s win got the franchise to share the top spot with the next outings, becoming a defining moment for both teams. T1 will be taking on bottom-placed Brion Blade in the next outing, while Gen.G will go up against fourth-placed DRX.
