The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2024 season is set to kick off on January 13 with the opening week of the Winter split.

This offseason has proved to be quite chaotic with numerous big roster moves, Karmine Corp replacing Astralis as the newcomers to Europe’s top LoL competition, and Riot Games announcing format changes for the league’s 12th season. Despite all that, the balance of power at the top has remained untouched.

LEC 2024 format changes

Following a significant overhaul of the league structure in 2023, the LEC has introduced some more changes for the 2024 season. The three-split layout will remain; however, after determining that last year’s format didn’t give players enough time to rest between events, the length of the breaks has been changed.

Starting with the LEC 2024 season, the pauses between Winter and Spring splits and between the Spring split and Mid-Season Invitational will be lengthened by one week. To balance the schedule, the break between the Summer split and the LEC 2024 Season Finals will be shortened by one week.

Riot Games has also adjusted the LEC postseason. Besides merging the group stage and playoffs into a single bracket, the league changed how championship points and qualification for the LoL World Championship will work.

The LEC Summer champions will automatically qualify for LoL Worlds 2024 as the lowest seed, while the second and third teams will receive a direct bye to the Season Finals. The fifth and sixth teams will receive the same amount of championship points, as will the seventh and eighth teams.

In another notable change for the LEC 2024 season, the minimum age for players in the league has increased from 17 to 18.

LEC 2024 Winter teams

The LoL EMEA Championship will again welcome 10 League of Legends esports teams, including three new names.

After merging with Spanish organisation Giants Gaming, Excel Esports have rebranded to GIANTX — a name adopted by all other Excel’s esports projects. The 2024 LEC season will also mark the return of Rogue, who reverted to their old brand in early November when KOI and Infinite Reality mutually dissolved their partnership.

Besides two rebrands, the LEC will welcome a new team, Karmine Corp, who acquired Astralis’ spot in the league after the French organisation bought 66.67 per cent of subsidiary AK-Game SAS.

  • G2 Esports
  • Fnatic
  • GIANTX
  • Karmine Corp
  • MAD Lions
  • Rogue
  • SK Gaming
  • Team BDS
  • Team Heretics
  • Team Vitality

LEC 2024 Winter title betting odds

With the format changes and a new team entering the league, the LEC 2024 Winter split is bound to play out differently than the LEC 2023 season. However, according to the LoL betting odds, the balance of power hasn’t changed by much.

Once again, LoL betting sites have priced G2 Esports (+110) and Fnatic (+187) as the main candidates to win the league. The two LEC titans are well ahead of Karmine Corp at +700 on the third line of betting.

Even though the LEC proved very competitive in 2023, the outright betting markets suggest a massive gap between the leading squads and the rest. Team Heretics (+1200) and Team Vitality (+2000) are the only remaining squads given a chance to do some damage, with Rogue (+3300), SK Gaming (+3300), Team BDS (+4500), GIANTX (+4500), and MAD Lions (+5000) all expected to struggle.

  • G2 Esports – +110
  • Fnatic – +187
  • Karmine Corp – +700
  • Team Heretics – +1200
  • Team Vitality – +2000
  • Rogue – +3300
  • SK Gaming – +3300
  • Team BDS – +4500
  • GIANTX – +4500
  • MAD Lions – +5000

LEC 2024 Winter predictions

Since the league’s inception in 2013, there have been just four different LEC champions, with G2 Esports (12) and Fnatic (7) collecting 19 trophies between them. Besides MAD Lions dominating the 2021 season, there has not been much variety in the fight for the title, and it seems like this trend will continue in 2024.

G2 Esports were by far the most dominant team of 2023, and they travelled to South Korea on a mission to produce another deep run at LoL Worlds 2023. But even though G2 stumbled on the big stage, they kept the roster intact, understanding that they don’t need to change much to be competitive in the LEC.

Fnatic haven’t made any significant changes either. Their sudden resurgence in the final split of 2023 following a major roster overhaul made it clear that Fnatic are capable of great things. But they needed an X-factor to threaten G2, and the Black & Orange appear to have found it in ex-Kwangdong Freecs support Yoon “Jun” Se-jun.

Most other teams enter the LEC 2024 Winter under a question mark following lineup changes. That includes Team Heretics, who have signed the former G2 Esports trio Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen, Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski, and Luka “Perkz” Perkovi?.

The league’s newcomers, Karmine Corp, have put together a competitive lineup that could do well, but there are questions as to how mixing and matching players from several teams will work in the long term. But the most puzzling team entering the league are MAD Lions, who axed most of their division to build a majority-Spanish LoL roster around jungler Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla.

With eight of 10 teams changing most of their rosters or swapping out key players from 2023, the league will look much different from last year. And while there are no guarantees that G2 Esports and Fnatic will be as efficient, they enter the new season as the only two teams with established synergy and rosters that worked in LEC 2023.

Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus, the 23-year-old Polish support, recently shocked the League of Legends community by announcing that he will not be a starting support for the 2024 LEC Winter Season.

This revelation came as a surprise, especially considering Trymbi’s significant contributions to Fnatic’s success in the Summer Season, which led them to qualifying for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship.

Trymbi, who previously played for Rogue before joining Fnatic, has been a consistent presence in the LEC since his debut in 2020.

Despite facing challenges with his former team, KOI, during the 2023 season, Trymbi played a crucial role in Fnatic’s journey to Worlds.

However, Fnatic reportedly decided to replace him with Yoon “Jun” Se-jun for the upcoming season.

In a statement on social media, Trymbi expressed his surprise at the off-season developments.

He mentioned that despite being told he was a high priority and that Fnatic was keen to continue with him, the team’s decision to replace him caught him off-guard.

Trymbi highlighted the challenge of securing a starting position in a league with only 10 spots, stating that he had permission to explore options when most teams had already finalized their rosters.

The LEC support role has been a focal point of the off-season, with reports suggesting that multiple teams are actively seeking support players.

Trymbi is not the only high-profile support player in the market, as others like Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov (MAD Lions) and Kamil “kamilius” Ko??l (Team GO) are also being considered by organizations.

Despite the unexpected turn of events, Trymbi remains optimistic, acknowledging that having a few weeks for himself will be beneficial.

He sees this period as an opportunity to reflect, grow, and return to the competitive scene stronger.

Trymbi’s impressive performance during the 2023 LEC Summer Split, where he boasted the highest KDA and the second-highest kill participation percentage among support players, showcases his potential to make a significant impact when he finds a new team.

As the LEC off-season continues to unfold with roster changes and surprising announcements, the League of Legends community eagerly awaits to see where Trymbi will land for the 2024 season and how he will contribute to his new team’s success.

The post Karmine Corp acquire Astralis’ slot in LEC appeared first on Esport Bet.

]]>
Karmine Corp, a prominent French esports organization, has officially secured a spot in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) for the 2024 season.

This exciting development comes as a result of Karmine Corp’s acquisition of Astralis’ LEC slot.

Karmine Corp had previously attempted to enter the LEC in late 2022 but was initially not accepted by Riot Games, leaving fans curious about the reasons behind this decision.

However, less than a year later, Karmine Corp’s co-owner, Kamel “Kameto” Kebir, began hinting at the possibility of their dream coming true, eventually making the long-awaited announcement.

Karmine Corp, founded in March 2020 by popular Twitch streamers Kameto and Zouhair “Kotei” Darji, swiftly climbed through the ranks of the French national league, the LFL, securing two championships and winning four EMEA Masters tournaments.

The organization boasts a passionate fanbase, many of whom were present at the 2023 LEC Season Finals in Montpellier, underlining their enthusiasm for the European league.

However, with every newcomer in the LEC, there is a historic organization departing, and this time it’s Astralis bidding farewell.

Astralis entered the LEC after acquiring Origen, a team that had been a part of the European League since 2015 and rebranded in 2020.

Astralis’ three-season run in the LEC had mixed performances, with their best finish being second place in the 2023 LEC Spring Groups.

Their last split ended with an early exit and a lack of Championship Points, resulting in their absence from the LEC Season Finals and concluding their journey in the LEC.

In addition to the news of Karmine Corp’s entry, Riot confirmed that all players under Astralis would become free agents at the start of the upcoming offseason.

Maximilian Peter Schmidt, Director of League of Legends Esports EMEA at Riot, expressed appreciation for Astralis as a valued partner and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors.

Karmine Corp’s journey to the LEC was not without its challenges.

Riot’s thorough evaluation process for prospective teams includes assessing ownership, brand strength, fandom, business history, objectives, and player development strategies.

The selling team, Astralis in this case, had the power to choose the new owner of its slot, while Riot had the authority to veto the transaction if Karmine Corp didn’t align with the established criteria for partnered organizations.

Despite joining the LEC, Karmine Corp’s presence in the French ERL (European Regional League) will continue.

Riot confirmed that Karmine Corp will also compete in the LFL while participating in the LEC, with their LFL roster serving as an academy team, focused on nurturing emerging talents within the esports community.

This move sets the stage for an exciting new chapter in the EMEA esports ecosystem.

While Karmine Corp’s 2024 LEC roster remains a mystery, fans can anticipate intense rivalries as the passionate fan base rises from the ERL landscape to conquer international competition, contributing to the league’s growth and success.

In the financial aspect of this development, Karmine Corp acquired the LEC slot by purchasing a 66.67% stake in a newly formed subsidiary, AK-Game SAS, for DKK 129 million.

As a result, Astralis retains a minority stake in the League of Legends franchise slot, with the possibility for Karmine Corp to gain full ownership by 2031.

Karmine Corp’s entry into the LEC reflects the continuing evolution of the League of Legends competitive landscape as historic organizations transition out and new, passionate entities like Karmine Corp step in to write the next chapter in the league’s history.

G2 Esports achieved their League of Legends EMEA Championship in a way emerging victorious, over their long standing rivals, Fnatic, in the LEC Season Finals.

The series concluded with a 3-1 scoreline in favor of G2, solidifying their position as the seed from EMEA for the LoL Worlds in 2023.

This marks the first time they have entered the tournament as the number one betting site’s favorite team from the LEC. G2’s triumph was remarkable, as they averaged 24 minutes per win throughout the series and accumulated a staggering total of 77 kills in their three victories.

BrokenBlade and Yike formed a duo in the lane for G2, effectively controlling the map and causing chaos for Fnatic, especially when accompanied by K’sante and Rell in games one, three, and four.

Yike finished with a KDA of 8.1 and a kill participation rate of 73.8 percent. With this victory, G2 secures an entry into the newly established “Stage,” bypassing the play on stage.

However, unlike previous years, being their region’s top seed does not guarantee them a path forward; during this Swiss Stage phase, teams with similar records will face off against each other through randomly drawn matchups. Fnatic and MAD Lions have also earned places in the World’s Swiss Stage.

Additionally, Team BDS will be participating in the World Qualifying Series, where they will face off against the Golden Guardians for an opportunity to enter the play on stage.

G2’s victory in the LEC Season Finals solidifies their reputation as one of Europe’s most formidable League of Legends teams, paving the way for an exhilarating adventure at Worlds 2023.

Fnatic will be hoping to keep their League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2023 Summer Season Finals dreams alive when they take on Team Heretics this Friday.

Fnatic’s shock 0-2 loss against SK Gaming in the opening round of LEC 2023 Summer Groups was a bit concerning, but they have since dusted themselves off and smashed MAD Lions (2-0) and got their revenge against SK (2-0). If we zoom out, Fnatic have looked like one of the best teams in the league this split.

Team Heretics have exceeded expectations, but they’re not serious title contenders. The eye test proves that while Heretics are good, they have a lot of things to iron out, while their performance metrics are fairly average.

Fnatic can have their off games, and we’ve seen how easily they can get punished by good map movement. But the problem is that Team Heretics haven’t shown the qualities needed to make life harder for Fnatic.

For one, Fnatic are much stronger across all five positions – except for maybe jungle, where Heretics field Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski. Yet even that might not be enough for Heretics to cause meaningful damage to Fnatic. Ivn “Razork” Martn Daz has been phenomenal over the last six games, but even if he gets shut down, it’s not like Fnatic play around their jungler.

We’ve seen Fnatic lose maps they shouldn’t have before; however, they’re individually much better than Heretics, so unless something goes wrong, Fnatic should have a relatively easy time getting the win Friday. A smaller play on Fnatic to sweep at +200 or better is worth considering.

MAD Lions and Excel Esports will kick off the LEC 2023 Summer Groups on Saturday, July 15, when the two LoL esports teams meet for the first time since the second week of the regular season. Excel Esports won that match, but it was a complete fiesta, so it’s tough to take much from it.

MAD Lions ended the LEC 2023 Summer regular season in seventh place with a 4-5 record, while Excel Esports clawed their way up to a third-place finish with a 5-4 record. The one-win difference doesn’t hold any weight in ranking the teams. But despite being down in the head-to-head and finishing the season below Excel, MAD Lions are priced as 1.57 favourites for Saturday’s game.

This makes some sense since MAD Lions are a good team in the best-of series; however, they’re also one of the most overrated LEC teams this season. They have some of the worst performance metrics in all essential stats, including gold differential per minute (-93), first blood rate (22.2% FB) and Herald control (22.2%), along with a negative gold differential at 15 minutes (-68).

Excel Esports aren’t that much better and not a team that’ll make it far in LEC 2023 Summer Groups, but unlike MAD Lions, Excel produced more quality wins and are more consistent.

There is no good reason to back MAD Lions at the offered LEC betting odds. They can be challenging to beat in best-of-three games, but MAD Lions haven’t shown enough this split.

Fnatic picked SK Gaming as their round-one opponent, despite losing against SK in the final week of the LEC 2023 Summer regular season. Fnatic justified their choice by stating that SK Gaming should be easier to beat than MAD Lions in a best-of-three game which is fair.

Fnatic did a fine job picking the easier opponent for their opening match of LEC 2023 Summer Groups, but realistically, there aren’t many teams that can challenge them. Fnatic and G2 Esports were by far the best teams of the regular season, and Fnatic’s upset loss against SK in the final week doesn’t change that.

Ranking Fnatic so high might be a bit of an overreaction, as they have not been challenged by any team outside of G2, nor did they have to play very well to win seven games. So it’s fair to feel cautiously optimistic about Fnatic, who might’ve overperformed a bit.

Still, while Fnatic have a lot more to prove, this is stylistically a good game for them. SK Gaming’s weak bottom lane will be a problem, and if they don’t find a way to stabilise it, Fnatic will run away with the game. This, however, is much easier said than done due to the pressure Marek “Humanoid” Brzda can create all over the map.

SK Gaming won against Fnatic last time out, but based on the released voice comms, Fnatic didn’t take that game too seriously. That loss meant nothing, and we have enough data to support Fnatic as a superior team.

?Team Vitality need a near-perfect week to finish the regular season inside the top eight, so anything less than a win on Saturday will not be acceptable. In a last-ditch attempt to find some traction, Vitality promoted academy jungler Kacper “Daglas” Dagiel as a replacement for Zhou “Bo” Yang-Bo, which looks like an upgrade, but Daglas’ lack of experience is concerning.

KOI are not that much better than Vitality, and they’re not a team to be trusted as heavy favourites. This isn’t the old Rogue team, and while KOI have looked like they’ve figured things out at times, they’ve also failed to find any consistency.

Knowing that KOI are every chance to make a fatal mistake, taking the favourites isn’t a terrible choice. There are some question marks above Vitality and how the team will do with a new jungler, but Daglas can’t be worse than Bo, who was the league’s worst-performing player.

G2 Esports are 5-1, which guarantees them a spot in the LEC 2023 Summer Groups. Stat-wise, G2 Esports are the best squad in the LEC; however, they’re also a team that shouldn’t be trusted when they have nothing to fight for, as they’re known to screw around and play with their food.

Excel Esports had a huge bounce-back last week when they won against Team Heretics, Team BDS, and MAD Lions and looked good doing it. They’ve finally figured out the meta, and if they keep at it, Excel will be a serious candidate to reach the playoffs.

While G2 Esports are the stronger team, they’re not a good bet at the offered price. Excel can win if given enough space, but we don’t have to risk money on whether G2 will feel like playing well. Excel at the kill line is the way to go.

MAD Lions are still held in high regard, but they’re not as good as their record or past achievements would suggest. They’re too reliant on getting kills, which is not a strategy that’ll bring long-term success.

Team Heretics have looked much better than expected this split; however, they managed just one win last week against Team BDS, with defeats against Excel and KOI. This team is still decent, but the form is questionable.

Talent-wise, MAD Lions are stronger than Heretics, but there’s a better way to approach betting on this game. Both teams like to stretch out their matches, and they both like to fight – so, barring any major early-game mistakes from either side, this should be a drawn-out game with plenty of kills.

?Excel Esports haven’t looked good so far, and they didn’t accomplish much last split either, but they shouldn’t be priced as +225 underdogs against Team Heretics or any other team in the league. Heretics are the most likely victors for a couple of key reasons – namely jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and ADC Victor “Flakked” Lirola Tortosa – but -303.03 is far too short.

Team Heretics won all three of their LEC 2023 Summer Week 1 matches, but they also showed a high degree of inconsistency, so it’s tough to say how good they are. While they’ve looked better than Excel, there were also moments in those matches where Heretics showed they are vulnerable.

It’s tough to justify backing a team that has been struggling this entire season, but the top LoL betting sites have this one wrong. Take Excel Esports to keep it close.

Fnatic had an explosive start to the split with a new bottom lane and outperformed everyone’s expectations. But things came crashing down in the final match of the opening week when Fnatic were outclassed by G2 Esports.

KOI won their first match of the summer split against Excel Esports but were far less successful against Team BDS and MAD Lions. However, KOI could’ve won those games had they not choked when leading (against BDS) or flipped a dragon fight at 24 minutes (against MAD).

Regardless of their record, KOI looked very good in the opening week and arguably shouldn’t be priced at +150 against Fnatic. Considering KOI’s efficiency in gaining early leads through kills, we prefer over 28.5 kills.

TEAM VITALITY vs G2 ESPORTS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: Vitality +150 at BetOnline | G2 -200 at BetOnline
When: June 24, 2023 | 20:00 CEST

G2 Esports finished the first week of LEC 2023 Summer with wins against Team BDS and Fnatic and a loss against MAD Lions. Their defeat against the defending champions was interesting because G2 had that game in the bag but decided to screw around. Even last split they look bored in their games, suggesting a lack of focus.

Team Vitality are probably the second-best team in the league, but their record from Week 1 of LEC 2023 Summer doesn’t make it seem like that. The Bees first lost against MAD Lions, then bounced back against SK Gaming, and on the final day they got blasted by Team Heretics.

Week 1 results don’t mean much, but it’s clear that Vitality are still not playing at their full potential. So on one side, we have a team that will shoot themselves in the foot more times than they’ll be outclassed, and on the other, an extremely talented roster struggling to find traction.

As much as it’s scary betting against G2 Esports, the offered League of Legends betting odds make it the right play. Team Vitality are good enough to defeat G2 Esports C we just haven’t seen that side of Vitality yet.

League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) 2023 Summer kicks off on Saturday, June 17. Here you can find the best bets for the opening day of the split, covering MAD Lions vs Team Vitality, KOI vs Excel Esports, G2 Esports vs Team BDS, and Fnatic vs Astralis.

The reigning LEC 2023 Spring champions, MAD Lions, will clash with Europe’s juggernauts, Team Vitality, in the opening match of LEC 2023 Summer, which should be a close match. Vitality and MAD met three times last split, with Vitality winning the first two games (1-0, 2-0), but couldn’t do the same in the LEC 2023 Spring semifinal, when MAD Lions won 3-1.

Based on past results, MAD Lions and Team Vitality look evenly matched, and with neither team making any roster changes for the summer split, the balance of power should remain the same. However, if we had to pick a side, Team Vitality are a clear choice.

Even though Vitality were a massive disappointment last split, this is still a very stacked roster, which now had more than enough time to form the needed synergy. On the other hand, MAD Lions are the reigning champions, but they severely overperformed in spring and are overrated.

Early-season games can be volatile, but Team Vitality are qualitatively much better than MAD Lions.

KOI vs EXCEL ESPORTS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: KOI -250 at BetOnline | Excel +175 at BetOnline
When: June 17, 2023 | 20:00 CEST
Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

Excel Esports finished the first two splits of the season in 10th place and have combined just three wins (3-15). The lack of success led to a couple of roster changes, in the signing of a new jungler Lee “Peach” Min-gyu and the departure of mid laner Vincent “Vetheo” Berri, who got replaced by Felix “Abbedagge” Braun.

These changes won’t strengthen Excel, but this team doesn’t need to sign star players to be competitive. Rather they need to work on synergy and macro play C which was the main reason for poor showings last split.

KOI also made some roster changes ahead of LEC 2023 Summer, but not good ones. Even though it’s understandable for a team to change up its roster following a seventh-place finish in spring, replacing support Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus with Henk “Advienne” Reijenga can’t work in their favour.

KOI look like a better team on paper, but they’re not good enough to be priced as -250 favourites with the top LoL betting sites. Excel Esports have yet to impress this season, but they have the talent and coaching staff to be competitive. This is a winnable match for the underdogs.

G2 ESPORTS vs TEAM BDS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: G2 -250 at BetOnline | BDS +175 at BetOnline
When: June 17, 2023 | 21:00 CEST

G2 Esports had an abysmal ending to the LEC 2023 Spring when they crashed out of the playoffs with a (2-3) defeat against MAD Lions. But that loss doesn’t change the fact that G2 Esports were by far the best-performing team in the league, and they should be just as good in LEC 2023 Summer.

We could also give Team BDS the tag of one of the best teams in the LEC, considering they made the LEC 2023 Spring finals and lost by a single map (2-3). However, there’s no denying that Team BDS severely overperformed and took advantage of other teams’ struggles which made them look much better than they really are.

Team BDS still deserve all the praise for what they produced last split, but it is unlikely they’ll be even remotely as good in summer. Take G2 Esports to win with plenty to spare.

FNATIC vs ASTRALIS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: Fnatic -120.48 at BetOnline | Astralis -120.48 at BetOnline
When: June 17, 2023 | 22:00 CEST

Fnatic couldn’t find any traction in the first two splits of the season, and despite all the roster changes, success was hard to come by. But with Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus as new support and ADC Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek, this could be the split where Fnatic wake up.

We don’t have much information on Noah, but he has been praised as the future European ADC star, and he’s unquestionably an upgrade from Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson. So at least on paper, Fnatic look much better ahead of LEC 2023 Summer.

Astralis finished LEC 2023 Spring regular season in second place. However, like Team BDS, Astralis overperformed but fell off much quicker and crashed out of LEC 2023 Spring Groups.

Based on the teams’ results from last split, Astralis should be the favourites, but talent-wise, Fnatic are far superior. There’s still a question of whether Fnatic will manage to hit the ground running early, but more times than not, they should defeat Astralis with relative ease.

Fnatic lost their opening match of LEC 2023 Spring Groups against Astralis; however, they played the series relatively well, proving that their late-season resurgence was more than luck. But as we look closer at Fnatic, they have some glaring weaknesses.

Their bottom lane is very limited since Henk “Advienne” Reijenga can’t play ranged supports that well, making it harder for Fnatic to draft. On a more positive note, Fnatic’s mid lane is extremely stable, thanks to Marek “Humanoid” Brzda’s ability to adapt to the team composition and his opponent.

Still, there’s a lot of variance in the top and jungle roles. Ivn “Razork” Martn Daz can be a bit of a hit-or-miss (depending on the day), while scar “Oscarinin” Mu?oz Jimnez is a complete wildcard.

MAD Lions were solid in LEC 2023 Winter but haven’t shown the same form in LEC 2023 Spring, mainly because they don’t seem to understand the meta, which usually leads to tough bot lane matchups. They are also a bit reckless in games where they have a lead and often force a finish, only for it to turn around and bite them.

This looks like a very scrappy game in the making, and if we had to pick a side, Fnatic look more appealing. Still, we’re getting a solid offer on over 2.5 maps which is a much safer choice given inconsistent both teams are.

SK Gaming are arguably the weakest team remaining in the race for LEC 2023 Spring Playoffs spot. They have a solid bottom lane, but elsewhere, SK Gaming are mediocre at best. Jungler Mark “Markoon” van Woensel could be the difference-maker, but he has been very inconsistent this split, and he’ll face one of the best European junglers, so it’s tough to expect too much from him.

G2 Esports suffered a huge upset defeat in the opening match of Group B when they lost against KOI (1-2). But losing one game doesn’t change the fact that G2 are still the leading candidates to win the league and rightly so.

G2 are strong in every position with the best (or second-best) players in every role, and had they not slipped against KOI, no one would doubt their chances to defeat SK Gaming. This should be a quick 2-0 sweep for G2 Esports.
