Toronto Ultra are on fire heading into their final match of CDL Stage 3 and considering Florida Mutineers (0-3), Dallas Empire (0-3), Los Angeles Guerrillas (0-3), and Minnesota R?KKR (1-3) weren’t able to stop them, it’s more than fair to say Paris Legion won’t be able to either.

It’s quite shocking to see such a good price on Toronto Ultra given how dominant they currently are and how unconvincing the Legion have been. Legion’s only notable performance of this stage came on Sunday when they beat Mutineers (3-1), yet even that seemed more like a fluke win rather than any indication of their strength.

Until Toronto Ultra start showing signs of slowing down, you can’t make a strong case against them – especially when faced with a team like Paris Legion. A two-map victory should be easily achievable for the favourites, while the real dreamers might want to consider a -2.5 map handicap bet at almost double the odds at esports betting sites.

New York Subliners are a team that don’t receive much respect. Even though their recent results aren’t exactly spectacular, we have faith that this team will find their form and fight for a top-four finish in the CDL Championship.

Their next opponents, the Los Angeles Thieves weren’t very good nor were they consistent early into their debut season, however, that’s about to change with the arrival of Cuyler “Huke” Garland. With Huke on the team, LA Thieves now field what is arguably the deadliest roster in the league.

It’s hard to pick between these two sides. LA Thieves field a very stacked roster that is still lacking some synergy, whereas NY Subliners have the experience and the firepower, but are heavily underperforming. There are many questions without a clear answer, but at the offered odds, you have to take the outsiders.

?Being a clash between two struggling teams, this one is hard to predict. That said, we aren’t as concerned with which side will win as much as the generous CDL betting odds on the outsiders.

The esports bookmakers seem to agree that Paris Legion should win this match 69.4% of the time, which seems a bit high in our book. There’s nothing that would lead us to believe that the French squad are stronger than Los Angeles Guerrillas, and we’d even go so far as to say the Guerrillas should be the ones walking away with a W.

At one point, we were hopeful about the Legion, but they have become drastically worse since Stage 1. As mentioned in our betting predictions for Thursday, Paris have a “role problem” that will take time to fix.

On the other side, we have much more faith in LA. The Guerrillas’ biggest weakness is respawn maps, but it’s not like Paris are that much better on those. At these odds, you have to take the Guerrillas.

?Minnesota R?KKR enter this match as favourites, which might make sense considering how solid they have been playing of late. That said, we wouldn’t underestimate Florida Mutineers and their stacked roster.

These sides last met just a month ago, when Florida won 3-0. The R?KKR have since looked more stable, but that doesn’t convince us they’ll have an easy time on Saturday.

The R?KKR may seem like a safer pick, but sometimes you have to risk it for the biscuit, and that’s what we’re going to do here. The Mutineers’ shaky form is slightly concerning, but we have hope this team will come online very soon.

Not only do we believe that Travis “Neptune” McCloud and co. can win this match, we also think they have a realistic chance to end the series with two maps to spare. Florida at the moneyline is a good pick, but the real value is with the outsiders to cover the map handicap.

?The Dallas Empire looked decent during the second CDL Major of the season but fell flat against the eventual champions, losing 1-3 to the Toronto Ultra. Outside of that, there isn’t a lot to be said about Dallas.

The Paris Legion have been both good and bad this season. They are in the former category at the moment and have a clear weakness which they can work on – assigning roles to their players – but that’s nothing that can’t be fixed with time.

The Legion have not looked good, but they’ve been making role changes, so there is a learning process that needs to happen before they find traction. Have they had enough time to do so and push for a win on Thursday? Likely not, but we expect to see some improvement in a few weeks.

The Florida Mutineers will seek revenge against the Toronto Ultra on Thursday for their elimination from the Stage 2 Major. The Canadian squad won that fixture 3-1 and went on to claim the title with a 5-2 victory against Atlanta FaZe in the grand finals.

Regardless of that loss, Florida played well and came very close to sweeping Dallas in their Stage 2 Major opener before the reigning CDL champions pulled the rug out from under them. While the Mutineers are far from a top-three team, they are clearly capable of much more than what they have achieved thus far.

The Ultra might be the Stage 2 Major champions, but they’re not that much stronger than the Mutineers. Toronto’s biggest weakness is their slow starts, which should work in Florida’s favour. At this price, the value is with the outsiders.

?Dallas Empire enter Week 2 of CDL 2021 off a very interesting series against Seattle Surge where they held a 2-0 lead but ended up almost losing as -714.29 favourites. Although Seattle deserve a lot of praise for their performance that day, we weren’t too impressed with Dallas, who seemed very sloppy and uncoordinated.

Based on what we have seen from the Empire, it very hard to be overly optimistic about them going forward. They’re arguably still the second-best team in Group B, but there is a world where they finish behind either Seattle or Paris Legion, who enter this match off a 3-0 victory against Minnesota R?KKR and a solid showing in their 1-3 loss to OpTic.

Dallas should win games like this solely because they field better individual talent, but we are not sold on their consistency. Unless they improve and show a bit more in this match, Paris could upset the reigning CDL champions. A modest bet on the Legion to win is worth considering, but we are satisfied with the odds on the +1.5 handicap.

?Minnesota R?KKR are 0-2 with two 0-3 losses against Paris Legion and Florida Mutineers, which is not too convincing when they haven’t faced any of the top teams yet. With all due respect, Minnesota are playing like the worst team in the league, and we don’t see them improving without making roster changes.

One thing going for the R?KKR is that they looked good during Stage 1 when they beat Dallas Empire, Seattle Surge and London Royal Ravens, but even those results get quickly overshadowed by how poorly they’ve performed of late.

OpTic Chicago look set to win Group B, although they still need to overcome Dallas and the giant-killing Florida Mutineers. However, with the way they have been playing, OpTic shouldn’t be too concerned with either of the two matchups. And they definitely shouldn’t be scared of facing Minnesota.

?Just a few weeks back it seemed like OpTic Chicago would win the Stage 1 Major, but things didn’t go as planned for the veteran lineup. After demolishing New York Subliners (3-0) and suffering a narrow 2-3 loss against Dallas Empire, OpTic came back swinging and took down Los Angeles Thieves (3-1), only to get schooled by Subliners, who won the rematch and eliminated OpTic from the tournament in fourth place.

Paris Legion’s run through the CDL Major was short-lived, as they did not make it further than their opening bout against Florida Mutineers (1-3), which makes it hard to be overly optimistic about the French team heading into CDL Stage 2. The Legion even struggled in their last meeting with OpTic (0-3), although they deserve some praise for forcing OpTic to 10 rounds on S&D (4-6) and to five rounds on Control (2-3).

OpTic perform well enough on respawn, but they need to improve their S&D, which is one game mode where Paris can potentially steal a point. This feels like an easy win for OpTic, but we don’t believe they will come out unharmed.

?Both sides field very competitive rosters, but out of the two, it’s Florida Mutineers who seem to have a higher ceiling. They’re already a very good team that needs just a little bit more polishing, namely on the respawns.

At the same time, we would not count out Minnesota R?KKR either, as they are another one of the teams that have the potential to rise out of mid-table. At the moment, however, the R?KKR seem a bit slow and the new QBZ meta doesn’t seem to suit them.

It’s only a matter of time before things start to come together for the R?KKR, and with the way Preston “Priestahh” Greiner has been playing, they are bound to improve. Whether or not the Minnesota squad can defeat the Mutineers, however, is another question.

?You don’t need to overcomplicate things for this match, since the CoD esports betting odds paint a clear enough picture of how things should play out. Although we believe Group B has the potential to see a few more upsets than usual, we have to come to terms with the fact that Seattle Surge are playing poor CoD of late, whereas Dallas Empire are expected to end the group at the top, next to OpTic Chicago.

Seattle are, in a way, similar to the Minnesota squad, as they have the talent and potential to improve but are not looking too sharp at the moment. We might see the Surge rise up later in the season when they figure some things out, but as it stands now, we hold them in low regard.

?Los Angeles Thieves did not handle the Stage 1 Major as well as everyone thought they would, finishing in fifth-sixth place with losses against Los Angeles Guerrillas (0-3) and OpTic Chicago (1-3). However, they dominated Toronto Ultra (3-0), which suggests they should do more than fine in Friday’s rematch.

That match with the Ultra was as one-sided as it can get, with Thieves winning 250-154 on Crossroads – Hardpoint, 6-1 at Moscow – S&D, and 3-2 on Checkmate – Control. The last map was relatively close, but Thieves always seemed to be in full control of the match.

It will be interesting to see how the Ultra perform now that they have benched Anthony “Methodz” Zinni, but even that roster change likely won’t be enough to turn things around.

?Paris Legion and Minnesota R?KKR both crashed out of the Stage 1 Major in the second round of the Elimination Bracket, where they lost to Florida Mutineers (1-3) and Toronto Ultra (2-3) respectively. There was not a lot to set these two sides apart during the regular season, which suggests we are in for a close bout on Friday when they meet for the first time in the campaign.

The R?KKR’s most notable results of the season include a 3-2 victory against Dallas Empire and 3-0 sweep of Seattle Surge. The Legion were just as impressive with wins against Florida Mutineers (3-0), Toronto Ultra (3-2), and a close 2-3 series against the Stage 1 champions, Atlanta FaZe.

Minnesota are the stronger team on paper, but Paris seem to be picking up the pace and look ready to cause an upset. The Legion are stronger than the latest Call of Duty League betting odds suggest and have a legitimate chance to win.

Atlanta FaZe have yet to disappoint this season and if their recent performances are any indication, they just might end the Super Week unbeaten. At the time of writing, FaZe have yet to face ?Florida Mutineers, but unless they go on to lose 0-3, the result of that match won’t change our perception of this team.

For Paris Legion, this will be their fifth game of the season and possibly their toughest so far. After a disappointing 0-2 run through the opening weekend, Legion bounced back in style and took a big 3-0 victory over Mutineers, which left quite a strong statement.

Despite Legion’s solid performance against Florida, we have to remember they’re facing a team with 75% map win rate and one of the best rosters in the league. At these odds, we have to take a shot with FaZe to win without dropping a map.

Despite their close series with Dallas Empire (2-3) on Wednesday, we have some reservations about the London Royal Ravens. Christopher “Parasite” Duarte looks to be in great form, while Sean “Seany” O’Connor and Thomas “Dylan” Henderson are doing fine, however, we aren’t seeing enough from Alex “Alexx” Carpenter, which is a problem.

That said there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the British squad. If Dylan gets in form and Alexx finds some stability, this team will be extremely tough to beat, but for now, they are the only team in the league without a win.

Minnesota R?KKR turned many heads with their wins against Dallas Empire (3-2) and Seattle Surge (3-0), but that hardly justifies the short betting odds. R?KKR should still win, but we don’t see how Royal Ravens can’t win at least one map.

?Paris Legion lost against Chicago Optic (0-3) and Los Angeles Guerrillas (2-3) during the opening week of the season, but they’ve had more than enough time to rest and work on their flaws, which should result in a more stable performance on Tuesday. Florida Mutineers’ sole match of the 2021 season so far in a 1-3 defeat to Toronto Ultra, meaning there is a possibility they could enter this match with the same 0-2 record following their clash with LA Guerrillas on Monday.

The Mutineers are priced as huge favourites for this match, but they have yet to show any serious quality. That leads us to believe the latest CoD betting odds are based on public perception of the team’s strength and not their actual form.

Paris Legion weren’t terrible in their losses last week, which is why we will trust them to put up a solid fight on Tuesday. We are taking a shot with the French squad at the map line.

?London Royal Ravens have a tough schedule ahead of them, needing to play back-to-back games against New York Subliners and Dallas Empire on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. Winning at least one will be important for the British squad, and it’s fair to say that their chances to succeed will be much higher in their first match of the week.

The Subliners’ only game of the season so far took place last Saturday when they lost against Los Angeles Thieves (0-3). Despite what the final score would suggest, the match went down to the wire in every single game (241-250 on Hardpoint, 5-6 on Search & Destroy, 2-3 on Control).

We don’t mind seeing the New Yorkers priced as favourites, but -250 is too short so early into the season. The Royal Ravens might not be title contenders, but they’re good enough to win at least two games in this contest.

?Seattle Surge’s first win of the season came against London Royal Ravens (3-2), which is a good result but not a great one. They also lost 0-3 against the reigning champions, Dallas Empire, who won with 250-98 on Hardpoint, 6-2 on S&D and 3-1 on Control.

Minnesota R?KKR started the season with a 1-3 loss against Los Angeles Thieves but bounced back with a huge 3-2 win against Dallas Empire. Although a remarkable outcome for Brian “Saintt” Baroska’s crew, we would be wary of overvaluing these early-season wins.

The Surge seem severely underrated, and we don’t believe it’s fair to have a squad fielding Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson, Peirce “Gunless” Hillman and Sam “Octane” Larew priced as high as +298. We are going all-in on Seattle for this one.
