Neon Esports took a series away from T1 last week (2-1) in what was a very bizarre game. T1 looked dominant from the start and quickly picked up the first map, but they slipped and ended up suffering a shock loss against a 0-3 team.
Some of it had to do with T1 making mistakes, but we have to praise Neon Esports, who showed a lot of good qualities in the series. Of course, one fixture doesn’t tell a lot, but Neon Esports seem like they have found their stride just in time to bounce back from a terrible start and keep their spot in the upper-division for the next tour.
With a 0-5 record and a 0-10 map difference, TNC Predator is the weakest division with some of the worst performance stats. And since we haven’t seen any improvement from them over the last four weeks, there is no reason to believe TNC can turn it around on Wednesday.

Execration got off to a solid start, going 2-1 across the first three rounds, but we have to note that their only wins came against two of the weakest teams in TNC Predator and Neon Esports. However, when faced with tougher opponents, Execration fell flat, losing both of their remaining series against Motivate.Trust Gaming (0-2) and Team SMG, who beat Execration 2-0 on Thursday.
T1 made the headlines with their defeat against Neon Esports (1-2) and even though they bounced back on Saturday with a 2-1 win against Motivate.Trust Gaming, T1 did not look as clean as earlier in the season.
We have no reason to believe T1 can’t win this game, but considering their iffy showings last week, we have a tough time backing them to cover the map handicap. Execration aren’t very good, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see them lose all the remaining three bouts, but at $2.17 with the online betting sites, they’re worth a shot to win a map against the struggling SEA juggernauts.

Omega Esports enter this match winless in their last eight outings. That record looks even worse when you consider that they haven’t really faced any top teams outside of TNC Predator.
Fnatic, on the other side, have managed to win six out of their last 10 outings, although eight of those bouts happened in March and earlier. To highlight just how inactive Fnatic have been this year, they’ve appeared in only three official matches since clinching the DPC SEA Season 1 title on February 24.
Fnatic undeniably have a more stacked roster than Omega, but we don’t feel comfortable betting on a team that has played only three games across the last nine weeks. The value is with the outsiders.

TNC Predator and BOOM Esports last met just under a month ago at Asia Pacific Predator League 2020/21 – APAC, where TNC won 1-0. That result put them 2-0 up in the head-to-head stakes for 2021 and took their record over the last six meetings to 2-1-3.
BOOM were the better team towards the end of 2020, but some key departures have left them looking a lot dangerous than they use to. While they are still performing well against weaker sides, they’re constantly being outclassed by the region’s top dogs.
It is hard to predict how TNC will do in any given match. They can play like a world-class team one month, only to disappoint the next. They seem to be in great form at the moment, however, having won all but one of their last nine series.
Considering how up-and-down TNC can be, it’s fair to doubt their ability to cover the map handicap, but at the offered price and with the form they’ve been showing, they’re worth a bet.

?Lilgun and Omega Esports will lock horns in the opening match of the tournament. It will mark their fourth meeting of the year, with Lilgun winning the first bout 2-0 but getting swept in the next two – most recently two weeks back at Asian New Bloom.
The odds on Omega might seem low, but it’s a fair price in our book. Lilgun haven’t shown anything of note for the last few weeks and enter this match on a five-game losing streak, whereas Omega have claimed two titles this year and come into this clash with four wins from their last five outings.
Omega are far from a top-tier SEA Dota 2 team, but they are playing well. They have beaten Lilgun before and seem to be very consistent against weaker teams, so we have to trust them to cover the map handicap.

TNC Predator enter this tournament with a lot to prove, having finished in fourth last season to miss out on the 2021 Singapore Major. Although it’s hard to argue TNC deserved to finish inside the top three in February, they would have made the cut had they not lost 0-2 to Execration in the tournament opener.
TNC went on to defeat Vice Esports, T1, BOOM Esports, and 496 Gaming, but they dropped the ball against Neon Esports and Fnatic. That was still better than Execration, who ended the season with a 1-5 run with their only other win coming against 496 Gaming.
TNC are 6-1 since the start of April, while Execration are 5-1 in the same stretch, albeit against slightly weaker opponents. Regardless, Execration seem to be in good form and should be able to force a tight series.

This fixture reminds us of Friday’s OGA DPC South America games, in a sense that this is another example of a match where the Dota 2 betting odds seem to overvalue the brand name. There is no denying TNC Predator were once one of the best Dota 2 teams in the world, but they’re now nothing more a mediocre tier-1 team.
TNC enter this match with a 4-1 record, which looks good on paper, but we have to consider their wins against Neon Esports (2-1), T1 (2-1) and BOOM Esports (2-0) were very close. That is not to say 496 are doing much better, but they were a bit unlucky to lose against the same three opponents with 1-2.
The latest Dota 2 betting odds suggest 496 should lose this match 77.5% of the time, which is a bit too much. This is more of a 60/40 game, so we don’t need to think twice before siding with the outsiders.

Placing a bet on Vice Esports for this match is hardly worth considering despite the generous betting odds. We believed in Vice before they clashed with T1, but what we got from that bout was only a further confirmation that Vice don’t belong at this level of play and should instead try to improve in the lower division.
BOOM Esports, on the other side, are a team that had a legitimate chance to sit at the top of the league by now, and perhaps they would have, had they not dropped the ball against T1 (1-2) and TNC Predator (0-2). Regardless of those slip-ups, BOOM are still the stronger side here and should not struggle against a team that is all but confirmed to get eliminated.

?Fnatic enter the fourth week of the competition off a devastating 1-2 loss against BOOM Esports. Their next opponents, Vice Esports, were much more successful last week as they edged past Execration (2-1) to win their first match of the tournament and their third of the year.
Fnatic and Vice last met in December when Fnatic won 2-0 at BTS Pro Series S4: SEA. They have since played six games and won only half of them, while Vice have a slightly worse record with three wins out of seven outings in the same stretch.
Fnatic are individually much stronger but haven’t looked too clean in their recent games, so there is a world where they drop a map to Vice. The odds on the underdogs with a map handicap are far too high and will likely drop, but anything above +150 is still worth a bet.

?On paper, this seems like a match that can end only one way, but looking at the latest Dota 2 betting odds, BOOM Esports seem to be slightly underestimated. TNC Predator and BOOM share the same 2-2 record this tournament, although Alfi “Khezcute” Nelphyana and co. have had to face slightly tougher opponents, so we have to put greater value on their record.
BOOM beat TNC five times out of 13 meetings in 2020 (5-2-6) and have not lost a single match against TNC in their last four meetings (3-1-0), claiming three successive clean sweeps in September-November. TNC have improved of late, but they historically struggle against BOOM and we don’t expect that to change here.
We predict a close match that will be decided on the third map.

All four will receive training space and social media promos as they prepare for collegiate tournaments and leagues. In addition, they’ll get UW Esports jerseys.
Cloud9, who were at the top level of Counter Strike: Global Offensive esports in 2018, have announced that they will be dropping their entire roster and starting fresh. The organization let their fans know about the overhaul via Youtube and a post on their website.
The news comes as a result of the roster lacking balance and struggling to achieve the level they had a few years ago. In the meantime, the members will continue to represent Cloud9 until the conclusion of ESL Pro League Season 12.
TNC Predator have won their first online Dota 2 esports event. The team participated at ESL One Thailand, where they defeated BOOM Esports 3-2 to clinch their first title of any kind since the 2019 MDL Chengdu Major.
Damien “kpii” Chok of TNC Predator is also one of the finalists for the ESL One Thailand 2020 Mercedes Benz MVP. Also in the running is Fnatic’s Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong, with the winner of the final vote to receive a new Mercedes Benz car.
Kiran Maharaj, chairperson of the University Sports South Africa eSport committee, says that esports is on the rise in SA universities. Over the last year, 17 university teams have joined the esports community.
The industry is still new to the country, and there are some challenges ahead; for example, bandwidth problems and the lack of a dedicated esports federation. However, Maharaj says that students are interested in getting involved, and there’s no need to persuade or encourage them to form teams and join.
The lockdown due to COVID-19 initially presented some issues but has since put esports in the front seat in modern sports engagement.
The Portuguese Esports Federation, which is already a member of the European Esports Federation and the International Esports Federation, has announced that it’ll be joining the Esports Integrity Commission. By becoming a part of the commission, the federation will comply with ESIC’s Player Code of Conduct, Anti-Corruption Code, and Anti-Doping Code.
Tiago Fernandes, president of the Portuguese Esports Federation, says that joining ESI will ensure that players participate in fair competitions. It’ll also boost the esports industry within the country and give commercial partners the confidence to invest in local teams and tournaments.
9z Team, the Argentinean esports organization, has accepted a sponsorship from Logitech G, the team confirmed. The company will provide the team, players, and streamers with all the necessary equipment and technology.
9z Team participate in Riot Games’ LoL and VALORANT, Epic Games’ Fortnite, and Valve’s CS: GO. Their other sponsors include GIGABYTE, BLK, and Red Bull, among others.
Many industries have struggled since the onset of COVID-19, but esports are thriving all over the world. This is proven by Matt Walsh joining the New Zealand Esports Federation.
Walsh, who is a part-owner of the New Zealand Breakers basketball team, formed Black Sheep, the country’s very first esports organization. His joining the federation could prove to be impactful, as he has a wealth of knowledge and experience in traditional sports that he can carry over to esports.

Fnatic will look to improve on their impressive recent record against TNC Predator when they meet on the third matchday at ESL One Thailand 2020 Asia.
These two sides have developed an intense rivalry since they first faced off back in September 2015. While most of their fixtures have been close, Fnatic have reigned supreme this year with an impressive 6-1-1 head-to-head record and 15-5 map differential.

TNC’s only win in that run was a narrow 2-1 result back in January, when they knocked out Fnatic in the second round of the lower bracket at the Leipzig Major. After that, Fnatic defeated TNC three times at BTS Pro Series Southeast Asia (2-1, 2-0, 3-0), again at ESL One Birmingham SEA (2-0), produced a stalemate during the second season of the BTS Pro Series (1-1), and won twice more in the Esports SEA League (2-0, 2-1).
Since they were eliminated from the Leipzig Major, Fnatic have attended seven tournaments and won five of them: DOTA Summit 12, ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Online Southeast Asia, BTS Pro Series Southeast Asia, ESL One Birmingham 2020 and World E-sports Legendary League. They have slowed down a bit in the last two months, however, finishing only third at BTS Pro Series Season 2 and second at the ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League.

At ESL One Thailand 2020 Asia, Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong and his crew left a lot to be desired with their 1-2 loss to Motivate.Trust Gaming in their opening fixture. While they bounced back with a 2-0 win against Team Trust on Sunday, it’s hard to praise them too much for putting away a semi-pro team.
While Fnatic were winning titles left and right, TNC Predator hit a slump after they won the MDL Chengdu Major in November 2019 and have yet to recover. Besides their occasional flashes of greatness, which saw them claim silver from the BTS Pro Series and bronze from ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League, Park “March” Tae-won and co. have looked far from their former selves.

In a way, TNC have emerged as a perfect illustration of just how much of an effect the online format can have on teams. Once a dominant force in the SEA region, they are now struggling to compete even against second-tier teams.
On a more positive note, TNC Predator have looked solid so far this competition. They’re currently leading Group A with a perfect 2-0 record which they earned by defeating Team Adroit (2-0) and Motivate.Trust Gaming (2-1), meaning a win here would guarantee them at least a top-four seed.
Fnatic are 6-1-3 from their last 10 games, although eight of those were played over a month ago. Since the break, Fnatic are 1-1 with a loss to Motivate.Trust Gaming and a win against Team Trust. TNC Predator, meanwhile, are 4-3-3 from their last 10 games and 2-0 across the last two weeks.
TNC look like they are in better shape than Fnatic right now. While the sample size of games played is rather small, it’s hard to ignore Fnatic’s loss to Motivate.Trust and a surprisingly close series with Trust, who nearly stole the second map.
Historically, Fnatic are the better team in these meetings, the form lines point to TNC Predator at very generous odds. The handicap is the safer bet, but we love the value in the head-to-head market.

]]>While all the spotlight is on the European powerhouse, who walked away with a record-breaking US $15,609,853 in prize money, top Philippine team TNC Predator can also be extremely happy with their achievements.
As The International features only the best Dota 2 esports teams in the world, TNC Predator entered the tournament as heavy underdogs as they looked to improve on their 13th-16th finish from last year.
The Philippines representatives kicked off their TI9 campaign with impressive results in the group stage, where they fought their way to 1-1 draws against PSG.LGD and Team Secret as well as a 2-0 win against the TI7 champions and TI9 finalists Team Liquid.
Producing remarkable results in the opening matches of the tournament earned them a respectable third-place finish in a tough group filled with former champions and top dogs.
Unfortunately, TNC Predator suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat against ViCi in the first round of the upper bracket, which meant their TI9 campaign was to continue in the lower bracket.
There they met with an all too familiar opponent, Team Liquid, who avenged their defeat from the group stage in two swift maps (2-0) and thus ended TNC Predator’s campaign.
If TNC Predator had won against TL and then defeated RNG in the third round, they would have become the first Filipino team in history to reach the top six.
While the improvement to a ninth-12th finish is impressive on its own, TNC Predator also broke their record for highest-earning single tournament by winning $685,852 in prize money this TI, which is almost $170k more than their previous high-mark from TI6, where they finished sixth-seventh ($519,262).
With well over half a million dollars in their pockets, TNC Predator helped TNC Gaming become the 16th best-paid esports organization in the world with a staggering $3,864,215 in total prize money so far.
Carlo “Kuku” Palad ($673,614) and Timothy “Tims” Randrup ($655,363), two of the longest-serving players in TNC Predator, also climbed the ranks in esports earnings and are now second and third ($655,363) respectively among the best-paid Philippines players in history.

Gabbi, in the carry position for Predator, performed well against the Brazilian squad, racking up 11 kills with Phantom Assassin in game one and then going undefeated for six kills with Troll Warlock in game two.
After that came a rematch with White-Off, who held TNC to a draw in the group stage, but this time around the Philippines esports outfit ran away with a 2-0 win.
Facing Keen Gaming in the title match, Predator took a gamble by picking Chen first in both games even they had only used him once before in the tournament.
In game one they adopted a pushing strategy with Nature Prophet and Venomancer alongside Chen, securing one lane of barracks before the 20-minute mark and then forcing a surrender by breaking through the second lane of barracks without any scarification.
Game two saw TNC change tack and ditch the push, although Chen’s early roaming in the laning phase was crucial in securing essential items for the team.
One of the major beneficiaries was Lifestealer, who secured Radiance inside 19 minutes and was able to purchase an early Hand of Midas and speed up his farm.
That allowed TNC to deploy a snowball strategy and Keen Gaming had no choice but to fight them after losing their own tower early.
The game was over when Predator pushed the high ground after Lifestealer took the Aegis of the Immortal from KG’s Roshan.
