FunPlus Phoenix qualified for Madrid by placing second in the VCT 2024 China Kickoff tournament, where they only looked good against some of the region’s weakest teams. That automatically makes them the lowest-rated squad travelling to Spain.
Karmine Corp were billed as one of the weakest EMEA teams entering the 2024 season but ended up winning the regional tournament with convincing victories against Team Heretics and Fnatic. They have played only four games so far, so it’s not fair to make any conclusions yet; however, based on what the new-look Karmine Corp have shown, they look poised to make some noise in Madrid.

LOUD are priced as +250 favourites in the VCT Masters Madrid 2024 outright markets, which is a bit of an exaggeration. Even though the Brazilian side performed well at VCT 2024 Americas Kickoff, they also played a couple of close series against weaker sides.
Gen.G won the VCT 2024 Pacific Kickoff, but that doesn’t mean they’re ready to face LOUD, mainly because Gen.G hail from a weaker region. But Paper Rex did some serious damage last season in international events, so the region’s strength argument doesn’t apply everywhere.
