In prepping for the League Of Legends<\/a> 2022 Pacific Championship Series (PCS) Summer Split, PSG Talon has signed Gori, a former FunPlus Phoenix mid laner. PSG Talon has begun to fill the space in its team after discharging many players early this week as the team’s midseason overhaul continues.<\/p>\n

After failing to proceed past the preliminary round of the Mid-Season Invitational<\/a> last month, PSG Talon parted ways with mid laner Bay and jungler Juhan. The pair only lasted a split with the team before being replaced in the second half of the 2022 competition. PSG is still seeking to improve across the Rift, having won the PCS for the 3rd time consecutively.<\/p>\n

Gori, who earned the LCK’s Player of the Split award last summer (awarded to the player with the most Player of the Game nominations), will try to replicate his success from the second half of the 2021 season. Gori only lasted six weeks with FPX after making the transition to the LPL this year, before being benched at the closing stretch of the Spring Split due to the team’s four-match losing streak. Care, his substitute, enabled FPX win 4 of their final 5 regular-season matches, but they lost in the 1st round of the playoffs to Edward Gaming.<\/p>\n

Gori’s 3rd team in as many splits will be PSG Talon. Gori has played for 3 different teams in 3 different regions since becoming a full-time player in 2021: Nongshim RedForce, FunPlus Phoenix, and now PSG. As one of the only players to compete in LCK, LPL, and PCS, he joins former LGD Gaming AD carry Kramer.<\/p>\n

When the PCS returns to action later this month, Gori will make his debut appearance in PSG.<\/p>\n

FPX exits in first round of the LPL 2022 Spring Split playoffs<\/h2>\n

Early this year, in March, EDward Gaming won against FunPlus Phoenix in the first round of the LPL 2022 Spring Split playoffs, 3-1, with mid laner Scout shiining all throughout the four-game series.<\/p>\n

This matchup between EDG and FPX was clearly distinct from the one in which EDG won and took home the title in the 2021 LPL Summer Split. This time, they were in the first round of the playoffs, fighting to avoid finishing the season in ninth place. The year 2022 has not been good to either team as much as the previous year.<\/p>\n

After tough matches with top teams in the LPL, FPX started their split well and showed potential skills. However, a midseason downturn had them finish in 10th place, narrowly qualifying for the LPL 2022 Spring Split Playoffs.<\/p>\n

EDG, the reigning League of Legends global champions, started the season with an unbeaten record, but their performance began to reveal flaws after they proceeded to lose against the LPL’s best teams. As a result, EDG lost their guaranteed status in the top six, and by the end of the LPL 2022 Spring Split, they had dropped to seventh place.<\/p>\n

Because of the huge transition in such a short period of time, both teams saw this series as an opportunity to demonstrate that they are still at the forefront of the LPL.
