During the tumultuous VALORANT<\/a> offseason following their surprising world championship win, Evil Geniuses (EG) made attempts to exit their partnership with VCT Americas.<\/p>\n

Amidst EG’s downsizing and negotiations, the organization explored the possibility of selling its VALORANT Champions Tour<\/a> slot and roster to FlyQuest.<\/p>\n

However, Riot Games intervened and prevented a transfer from occurring.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that Riot rejected an agreement between EG and LCS member FlyQuest, which would have involved EG transferring their partnership slot to FlyQuest.<\/p>\n

The negotiations between EG and FlyQuest reportedly spanned several months, with FlyQuest aiming to acquire both the partnership slot and the championship-winning roster from EG.<\/p>\n

Despite efforts to secure facilities and offices for the players, Riot’s decision halted the deal.<\/p>\n

This marked FlyQuest’s second failed attempt to enter VCT Americas, as they had previously missed out on acquiring The Guard’s roster from G2 Esports.<\/p>\n

Details from the offseason shed light on the contractual situations of EG players.<\/p>\n

They were allegedly offered significantly reduced salaries, with those who declined facing the risk of contract termination.<\/p>\n

EG also turned down buyout offers for some of its star players, including Kelden “Boostio” Elric Pupello, Max “Demon1” Mazanov, and Ethan “Ethan” Arnold.<\/p>\n

As EG prepares to compete in the upcoming VCT Americas Kickoff tournament with a largely revamped roster, uncertainties loom over the organization’s future in Valorant beyond its current contract with Riot Games.<\/p>\n
