{"id":5881,"date":"2018-10-29T01:39:10","date_gmt":"2018-10-29T01:39:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/?p=5881"},"modified":"2018-10-29T01:39:10","modified_gmt":"2018-10-29T01:39:10","slug":"michael-jordan-soars-into-esports-with-axiomatic-gaming-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/michael-jordan-soars-into-esports-with-axiomatic-gaming-investment\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Jordan soars into eSports with AXiomatic Gaming investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ONE of the greatest athletes in the history of professional sport, Michael Jordan, has taken his first steps into the world of eSports.<\/p>\n<p>The basketball hall of fame, six-time NBA champion leads an investment group that has poured more than US$26 million into AXiomatic Gaming \u2014 the owners of Team Liquid.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan, who has owned the NBA&#8217;s Charlotte Hornets for a number of years, has stepped into the eSports industry just weeks after <a title=\"Nike steps into eSports industry\" href=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/jian-uzi-ziaho-and-nike-team-up-in-historic-endorsement-deal\/\">sporting apparel giant Nike began its first ambassador promotional campaign with Jiam Ziaho<\/a> \u2014 one of the best eSports players in the world.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s no wonder why AXiomatic Gaming has attracted the attention of Jordan and his investment partners \u2014 the company has grown from strength to strength since being founded in 2015. <\/p>\n<p>In 2016 AXiomatic purchased a controlling stake in the popular <a title=\"League of Legends betting guide\" href=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/league-of-legends\/\">League of Legends side Team Liquid<\/a>. That move proved to be a good one. After tremendous success both in a marketing and playing sense, the business was recently valued by Forbes in excess of US$200 million.<\/p>\n<p>In a release to the public this week, AXiomatic didn\u2019t disclose the size of Jordan\u2019s investment, nor the other investors in the group.<\/p>\n<p>While Jordan won&#8217;t expect the same instant returns that the big NBA market provides, his involvement speaks volumes to <a title=\"growing eSports industry needs more regulation\" href=\"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/regulation-needed-if-esports-to-reach-betting-potential-experts-say\/\">the growing nature of the eSports industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>eSports is expected to generate more than US$900 million in 2018 and video-gamers are now celebrities in many countries, including the USA, South Korea, China and Japan.
