{"id":8177,"date":"2019-09-19T00:51:37","date_gmt":"2019-09-19T00:51:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/?p=8177"},"modified":"2020-10-05T22:04:09","modified_gmt":"2020-10-06T02:04:09","slug":"amateur-players-confirmed-for-omen-challenge-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/esportbet.com\/amateur-players-confirmed-for-omen-challenge-in-london\/","title":{"rendered":"Amateur players confirmed for OMEN Challenge in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OMEN by HP and HLTV.org have revealed the talent line-up and two amateur players who will compete at the upcoming OMEN Challenge, presented by HLTV.<\/p>\n<p>The OMEN Challenge was announced in late August as a duel-based tournament that will feature eight handpicked players &#8211; six established <a href=\"\/counter-strike\/\" title=\"CS:GO esports betting\">CS:GO esports<\/a> pros and two amateurs &#8211; competing for a grand prize of US $50,000.<\/p>\n<p>The event is set to take place in London on Friday, September 20 at a purpose-built battle arena.<\/p>\n<div class=\" embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The lines between gameplay and reality just got a little more blurred. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OMENChallenge?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#OMENChallenge<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pyK3THF3F7\">pic.twitter.com\/pyK3THF3F7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; OMEN by HP (@OMENbyHP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OMENbyHP\/status\/1174010613426614272?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 17, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/div>\n<p>The OMEN Challenge will feature five of the top-rated players of 2018:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aleksandr &#8220;s1mple&#8221; Kostyliev (Natus Vincere)<\/li>\n<li>Nicolai &#8220;device&#8221; Reedtz (Astralis)<\/li>\n<li>Nikola &#8220;NiKo&#8221; Kova\u010d (FaZe)<\/li>\n<li>Denis &#8220;electronic&#8221; Sharipov (Natus Vincere)<\/li>\n<li>H\u00e5vard &#8220;rain&#8221; Nygaard (FaZe Clan)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On September 1, 2019, the organisers started the recruitment process for selecting the amateur CS:GO players that will take on the pros.<\/p>\n<p>Each player who wanted to participate had to record and submit replays of their three best-ranked games played during the recruitment process (September 1-8).<\/p>\n<p>All the submissions went to Astralis coach Danny &#8220;zonic&#8221; S\u00f8rensen, who after looking at all the replays picked out two players to compete at the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, September 16, it was revealed that 20-year-old Marco &#8220;hayden&#8221; Witzner from Denmark and 18-year-old Nikolas &#8220;n1k&#8221; Laiho from Finland had secured the amateur slots.<\/p>\n<p>After being picked to compete in London, hayden and n1k had the privilege to go through a bootcamp at Astralis&#8217; offices, where they were coached by zonic himself in preparation for what could be a life-changing event.<\/p>\n<div class=\" embed-twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">No more games. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zonic?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@zonic<\/a> has put our recruits through their paces.
